PAINT CORRECTION

What is Paint Correction? Paint correction is the mechanical leveling of clear coat or paint (clear coat is unpigmented paint, clear) to a point where all the paint is free of swirl marks and light scratches.  Swirl marks are essentially a “V” cut/slice in the paint where light bounces around in the valley of the scratch and exits.  This is how you see the swirl marks. If the paint was flat, with no valley, you wouldn’t have anywhere for the light to bounce around...that is where paint correction shines the best.

There are 4 different levels of paint.

Essentially, the swirls, oxidation, and other damages Impact the clear coat, which is the thickest, but still paper thin. Delicate but Durable.

At FRESH, we first evaluate the paint, and damages before offering a quote and recommendation. Proper preparation is also the key to good results, your car will be snow foamed to dissolve all the dirt and grime, de-waxed to remove any old polishes or waxes that maybe hiding more defects, decontaminated to remove road tar, tram dust, tree and more. We will also use 3M automotive tape to protect the rubbers, trimming  and other areas that are sensitive.

After the Paint correction is done, FRESH will then detail the rest of the exterior of your car, and protect your paint with the wax, paint sealant, premium wax or paint protection coatings of your choice. This will finish and protect in that deep, clear gloss ensuring it remains longer and makes it easier for you to wash and keep your car immaculate.

Here's our Process:

1) Snow foam pre-wash to loosen up contaminants

2) 2-bucket system hand wash with Grit guard to ensure the wash mitt is always be dirt free.

3)High pressure rinse.

4) Car will be dried by using a micro fiber weave drying towel. (We DO NOT recommend using shammy's to dry the car because thats one of the major reason it causes swirl marks.)

5) Application of fine/medium grade clay bar treatment to remove any above contaminants.

6)  Inspection of paintwork and doing a test spot before carrying any work, this is crucial. A lot of "detailers" skip this step and use the heaviest step to save time

7) Stages of machine polish with rotary/DA to remove paint defects as shown on the diagram

8) Protecting the perfect paintwork to protect it. This is done after the machine polishing step. Wax or Protectant will be applied.
